Prof Pete Smith, BMedSci, MBBS, FRACP, PhD
Professor Pete Smith is one of Australia’s most accomplished and respected allergists and immunologists. Based at Southport on the Gold Coast, he has a list of credentials as long as his waiting list.
Prof Pete commenced his medical studies at the University of Tasmania. He went on to specialise in paediatrics in Adelaide, before completing his PhD in molecular immunology with Flinders University. He has worked as an allergy specialist at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, and lectured at the Institute of Child Health, University College London.
Today, Pete is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Griffith University, where he is conducting research into molecular aspects of pain in allergic conditions.
Prof Pete is an active member of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology & Allergy, and a regular expert commentator in the media. He is a member of the World Allergy Organization, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, and the European Academy of Clinical Immunology & Allergy. He sits on several national and international advisory boards. He is also involved in medical education and frequently speaks at national and international meetings and conferences.
As Medical Director of Allergy Medical, Prof Pete has developed the model, trained the staff, and continues to supervise the clinic—providing more people with more timely access to quality medical care in the diagnosis and treatment of allergies.
